Ideamensch is a business blog that likes to interview business and investment gurus to find out how they got the ideas for their businesses, and how they generate ideas from day to day. In this interview they sit down with Adam Milstein, a leader in the Jewish business world and a political activist who promotes pro-Israel causes.
Adam Milstein is a real estate investor and advisor who helped start Hager Pacific Properties. He is also a philanthropist who founded the Milstein Foundation to give back to the Jewish community.
According to Milstein’s interview, he had gotten the idea for Hager Pacific Properties because he felt none of the other job opportunities being offered to him matched his personality or experience. His day is not one that consists of any general structure, but it does consist of attaining assets and being involved in philanthropic activities.
Adam Milstein believes in always following up with every activity in order to be a successful entrepreneur, and he uses Constant Contact as a way to keep track of all his leads.
According to Jewish Journal, Adam Milstein has lived in both Israel and the US, born to a family that immigrated to Israel when it was just becoming a nation-state. His father fought in the war of independence before settling down to become a building framer, and his mother was a home maker.
Adam is the oldest of three sons, and he traveled with his family during his early childhood to different areas of Israel due to his father’s job. He joined the military when he came of age and fought under Ariel Sharon’s command in the Yom Kippur War. When his military service expired, he returned home and married Gila Elgrably, and later got his degree from the Technion, Israeli Institute of Technology.
Adam Milstein got his MBA from USC in the early 1980s, and then met David Hager who he helped found Hager Pacific Properties with. He and Gila started the Milstein Foundation in 2000 and also founded Sifriyat Pijama B’America, a Hebrew language publishing company along with it.
Adam is also Chairman of the Board on other organizations such as Birthright Israel, StandWithUs, Israeli-American Council (IAC) and Israel on Campus Coalition.
